JJ DOOM is a joint project bringing together the abstract, gruff rhymes of DOOM (formerly known as MF Doom) and the shape shifting hip-hop beats of highly revered producer JNEIRO JAREL. DOOM has reinvented himself as a variety of different alter egos in the past, but as metal masked figure MF Doom he undertook an un-matched musical work ethic as a solo and collaborative artist. DOOM has previously collaborated with DANGER MOUSE, MADLIB GHOSTFACE, GORILLAZ, RADIOHEAD'S THOM YORKE and JONNY GREENWOOD and, most recently, Brooklyn-born, New Orleans-based producer, rapper and vocalist JJ (JNEIRO JAREL). JJ who has had similarly alias-orientated adventures, consisting of instrumental beat journeys as Dr Who Dat? Also not shy of collaboration, JJ has worked on past projects with WILLIE ISZ and KHUJO GOODIE, and produced remixes for RADIOHEAD, TV ON THE RADIO and BJORK. 'Key to the Kuffs' is the debut collaborative album for JJ DOOM released on genre-bending label, LEX RECORDS. 'Key to the Kuffs' is a twisted journey into hip-hop, electronica and warped beats featuring BLUR and GORILLAZ main man DAMON ALBARN, OUTKAST associate KHUJO GOODIE and PORTISHEAD'S BETH GIBBONS. Loaded with UK-inspired rhymes and references, the album covers everything from Cockney rhyming slang, the WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER and even British doco series, MY BIG FAT GYPSY WEDDING.
